Also, Meera is cooler in the books than any Stark other than Arya. You guys are just haters.
I really like the loyalty idea. Also, Kyle C. isn't that bad. His ability is nice but its not over powering.
Oh and it doesn't shock me that the Lannister enthusiast (Will) finds all the "hate" cards in Stark.
Effing Lannister players.....
The "hate" cards in Stark?
Will mentions cards that aren't thematic in the cast. He hits on a few for Stark. He says something along the lines of, "i'm not trying to but I am finding lots of hate cards in Stark", talking about the unthematicness of Meera and Kyle Condon. I was just making a joke about how a Lannister player finds fault with Stark cards because Stark and Lannister don't get along in the books. I admit that the joke was not very obvious or funny.
What I do wonder, though, is if we do see a refresh or a reboot if we want those autoincludes and staples to be the same or if we would rather see them rotated out to make some new room? I, for one, would rather see enemy informer, dragon thief, and their ilk not brought forward. Let's see some new foundational cards that don't have to creep the power level to push the old ones out (I felt bright water man at arms, who you mentioned, is a great example of new staple via power creep)
Sorry, but the GUUUUURRRRRRRTTTTTTTJOOOOONNNNNNN is ahead of her.
Also, Hodor.
For Eddard, I'd want to see a version that allows you an extra military challenge when he is on the board, but you can't make intrigue challenges.
I don't have much time to spend on this, but I wanted to throw some very rough thoughts out for discussion..
The Meraxes example you brought up is perfect to focus on imo.
Meraxes: It solved gaps in Targ design to that point, and also closed off design options moving forward because Meraxes exists now in the card pool. This type of design also promotes faster power creep.
They could have created cards for Targ that allow you to draw cards when burning (Maegi Crone is decent but its not balanced right), draw when ambushing, draw around a power challenge, etc... This creates deck building options depending on deck design, and you don't see every single person running around with auto-include Meraxes.
Similarly you could have created new cards and opportunities for Targ to obtain gold (thus a Dominance buff) by producing effects specific to the house. This also would open up design options for Targ to use gold during challenges/dominance phase with cards. Instead of the "do nothing else" Meraxes strength boost.
The tool that works best against autoincludes is variety in decktypes out of a house. If these decktypes are different enough, then they will use different cards to fill different roles. Like bloodthirst made Martell players really question cards that used to be autoincludes, but weren't in this deck.
Longer post incoming in a couple of days, but I wanted to give two quick bursts of negativity:
- Constant changing of hosts was jarring. Perhaps next time give a short warning at the start?
- Syrio in Lannister: abandon all Nedliness ye who enter here.
...has a certain ring to it. *crickets*
Come on, that was good!
Ha, you are completely right, Tom. Phenomenal album.
Also, realized that in my rush to get out for my birthday weekend, I missed dropping in the deck lists. Let me rectify that.

I love the autoinclude/staple discussion. Other than not knowing his alphabet, this Vaapad guy is a great addition.
I find it unsurprising that Will is hating on all the good Stark stuff and loving on all the Lanni/Martell staples. What does surprise me is that he does it with a Nedliness argument.
Where's the critique of the new Edmure on that front?
Dare I defend Meera? Yes, she's amazing, but at least when you pump her up with Winter you make it harder to bring her out of shadows.
Yes, Ser Kyle Condon is an autoinclude in every Stark deck, especially since he works so nicely with Harrenhal (either version for that matter). Gods forbid Stark gets some semi-reliable draw, not to mention a Stalwart character that isn't heinous.
What about Frozen Solid as a Stark autoinclude?
EDIT: No problem with giving TMP to Martell, but the Citadel is in Dorne?
Isn't Oldtown (where the Citadel is) in Dorne?
Nope, it's in the Reach.
