Pleased to see that is not the case of course. Plus, Darryl!
Suggested card
Event - Dark and Full of Terrors
Response: If you win a challenge in which an Asshai character participated, kneel another Asshai character to increase the printed claim on any player's plot card by 1 until the end of the phase.
What about house themes? I'd like to have heard more about what themes you think might stay with which house and which ones will get moved around.
Love that plot...
And traitor - another week! If they don't put out some damn cards soon we'll be dying for topics!
Hey, if we're on the topic of cards we don't want to see:
The Laughing Storm.
Sure, he's a champ card like Meera, but he he's just stupidly un-fun to play against.
Loved the episode, really good balance of discussion and a fertile subject too
.
That said, holy ****. Aaron, I love you mate, but I disagreed with almost everything you said from the beginning of the episode up until about the time you began Night's Watch (of course Jon Snow should have an intrigue icon what were the other two smokin'). I could literally make a checklist of about 30 things I disagreed with, but I'm going to skip it and just open the can of worms by pointing out Cersei's better at intrigue than Tyrion is. Discuss.
Nymeria protects Arya from Joffrey because he's a **** hole. Of course, this resulted in Lady being killed...
You don't think, a tricon Dany with double renown and standing by kneeling basically anything is very much needed? Maybe she should shot death rays from her eyes or something like that...
Besides that, I liked the start of the episode, but on house after another you just seemed to eagerly brush off the later houses...
I second Traitors suggestion to make an episode on new house themes, which should stay and which should go (to another house, or out of the game, or as a new theme into the game {maybe even from other LCGs?}).
What still a good listening to.
James - pick a few! Let's go!
Off the top of my head:
- Ned should absolutely have a power icon. He was Warden of the North and was able to command the respect and loyalty of all Bannermen therewithin. He also made multiple genuine power-plays in his short time in King's Landing, most principally sending Beric Dondarrion to bring the Mountain to justice and summoning Tywin Lannister to court, as well as (admittedly unsuccessfully) attempting to seize power from Cersei and Joffrey by hiring the gold cloaks.
- Doran's plans never fail? More like Doran's plans never work. By far the most obvious is the whole Quentyn thing, which is still the basis of his entire plan as of the start of book 6. Beyond that we have "hooking up Viserys and Arianne", "keeping Arianne in the dark about all his schemes and trusting she'll just placidly accept it", "sending The Red Viper to King's Landing", and "sending his trusted guard to peacefully break up Arianne's rebellion without casualties". Are all those failures his fault? No, but they're still his failures, and his double-edgedness is most definitely Nedly in my eyes.
- Harrenhal's a positive force for the game, a long way from being the worst card. But that seems like a pretty fundamental ideological disagreement when it comes to the game, so doubt we'll be reconciling that one!
- Previous point on Cersei being better at intrigue than Tyrion.
- [SPOILERS FOR BOOK 4] Euron shouldn't be in the core, yet Victarion should? Victarion's entire existence is living in the shadow of his brothers. If any of them shouldn't make the core, cut Victarion. Euron is the King of the Iron Islands and should absolutely make the core.
@Darkblue- Yes! Lannister gets to import ICE and no one gets any breakers. It'll be great!
Having just listened to this due to holidays and the birth of my daughter, these were my Martell card thoughts:
Oberyn Martell [Viper in the Grass]
Cost 6
Power 4
Military, Intrigue, Power
Deadly, Renown
When Oberyn Martell is participating in a challenge and an opponent's character is killed by deadly, Oberyn Martell claims one power.
Justification: Oberyn considered one of the best fighters in Westeros (Jaime/Ned equivalent). There was an argument that Oberyn is "not that well known", which I don't agree with. He has a nickname that EVERYONE KNOWS. I can't think of a better justification for how renowned and well known he is than that. Deadly because he poisons his weapons. Ability focused around the idea that he gained his notoriety for the deadliness he exudes and the manner in which his opponents die.
Sunspear [Seat of House Martell]
Cost 2
Dorne. House Martell
Limited Response: Kneel a House Martell Lord you control to cancel the claim of a challenge. Then, choose one of the following: Kill a character you control, or discard a card at random from your hand, or move a power from your house card to your opponent's house card.
Justification: Idea is that Dorne and Martell control the flow of events: If they want to keep power, they may sacrifice pawns, or if they want to maintain their armies they might instead give up some of their power to appease. Plus, the nature of neutralizing claim raising mimics the insular, fortified position of Dorne and Dornish culture.
