Good episode, nice to hear from Tulsa SC. Jacob was great guest to bring on this episode.

I don't particularly care, but if anyone in the Chicago meta bought a regional bye from ebay, they would be mocked incessantly. We also similarly mock if multiple people bring the same deck in our group. Man up.

Because collaboration means you are bad, got it.

Collaboration means you're bad?

Because collaboration means you are bad, got it.

I think you are misusing the word collaboration.. We collaborate all the time, but we also like to pilot our own creations. If you like an environment with only two deck types, don't fret! Second edition will be here soon.

Despite the limited card pool, I think 2ED will feel fairly open since we know they're redoing the out of house stuff.

Just one question on that deck - why that version of Darkstar? The other one feels like he could really do some work in this deck.

That is..... a really great question. I would say that I wound up with the PotS one just from being in a deckbuilding rut.

Great point, however, on the other Darkstar probably being better here. The extra stealth is great to keep pushing those high claim challenges through.

Nice episode gentlemen, and I'm not just saying that because I was mentioned twice, although that does help. And I guess I am technically a CCG era player; I did buy half a box each of House of Thorns and House of Talons.

Thanks for the advice on the deck Kyle. If I do keep playing it, I will take a cue from yours. It's hard to ignore all that lovely Winter synergy, though. And I maintain that Roose Bolton is good not only for triggering all the power events, but also as anti-Mel's Favor tech, even after restriction. In any case, it can't be that bad; I did make the top 4, although I understand beating Staton to get there isn't that impressive. ;)

One thing I would say on the winter tech is that I think its more about making it winter only when it suits you to do so. Just giving each player -1 income is not enough.

My cards that benefit from winter are Meera, 2 x Ranger of Winter (and they are beasts in winter), Winter Reserves, Winter Kingsroads, and less directly Samwell drawing off White Raven being played. Unless I have at least 2 of these I'm not interested in making it winter. If I do have them winter then gives me a big leap up. Also I have a low gold curve so the choke doesn't hurt.

Roose Bolton vs Mel's Favour I hadn't even considered. Perhaps I should put him in after all. He'd be the only non army costing more than 3, that's for sure.

Hopefully Roose isn't the one who is taken by Mel's Favor.  I think it's safe to say that any character that conditionally doesn't kneel to attack can be pretty annoying.

Yeah, ideally you'd be going second drop Roose after they take your character with Mel's? It's a bit finicky. Otherwise, it does at least shield your other characters since they'd largely have to use it on Roose if he's already on the board.

great episode !

Aloof and apart is just too fun to play, can't blame ya for playing it sans practice.

Please everyone, boycott buying borrowed byes !!

keep up the good work !

You're right, it is a bit finicky, but with Roose, Meera, and Frozen Solid something usually works.
