Small Council A Hidden Agenda Review
Our staff has put together a first blush analysis of the newly released chapter pack A Hidden Agenda. We’ve used a one through five scale; five being the best. The cards are listed in numeric order. Our reviewers are listed in alphabetical order. Let us know in the comments how you feel about the cards in this pack!63% - 439 out of 700

Zero cost shadow cards are the best as it’s very easy to time the response for when you need it. We are slowly approaching the point where discard effects are moot versus Baratheon.
Ire & WWDrakey - 5 out of 5
Well, thankfully it’s not a Maeser this time. Balance-wise, it's just silly.
JCWamma - 5 out of 5
I'm worried that I've been too verbose lately with my reviews, so this month in a bid to be concise I'll be giving all my thoughts in limerick form.
A new version of Maester Cressen
Who leaves quite a major impression
Recurring a card
Straight from your discard
Makes the impact of losing cards lessen.
mnBroncos - 5 out of 5
This card is amazing and although is more limited on the card you get then Dale but the cost and effect for the character makes up for it. A great card and will be in all my Bara decks.
Rave - 5 out of 5
He does everything you’d want a shadows card to do. He’s Kingdom of Shadows friendly, free to bring out, and has no bad traits. Baratheon probably has the easiest time putting cards back in shadows out of all the houses (Sister of Truth/Cape Wrath) so if you want to go that route, he will be a great asset. Otherwise, the extra use out of him by dying from military claim is more than worth his cost alone.
scantrell24 – 5 out of 5
Maester Cressen makes Bara KotHH with Jaime, Black Cells, Blackwater Bay and blanking Margaery even better. Actually, he makes almost every Bara deck better.
Sygmaghost94 - 4 out of 5
Another good version of Maester Cressen. One could easily argue that this version is far superior, but there’s nothing wrong with some solid attachment control. Anyways, this guy fits in perfectly with Bara’s recursion theme. The fact that he says to bring back the “top card†means he can return those cards you may not be able to grab with Dale or Mel’s Scheme. Now while he is an exceptionally good card (s0, no bad traits, int icon, and a double use out of his effect) I don’t see this guy winning you any games by himself, and to me, that’s what warrants a 5 out of 5. If you disagree with me, just compare him to cards like The Red Viper, Meera Reed, or Ser Jaime Lannister (TK) and ask yourself if he is really on the same level as those cards. Overall he’s very good. You can put him back in the shadows with Cape Wrath or Sisters of Truth and just have a fun time.

[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_mace-tyrell-aha.jpg'] Mace Tyrell 23 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 3 out of 5
Stats and costs are balanced given the traits and effect. If you’re careful maybe it’ll work but I’m sure he’ll lose as many games for you as win.
Ire & WWDrakey - 3 out of 5
A blunt smashing weapon with not much finesse this one. 4 gold without any protections just isn't a nice place to be at the moment. Probably considerably better in Lannister for combo purposes with Sitting the Iron Throne or Devious Intentions for fast power grab. Might get too dangerous against another rush as well.
JCWamma - 4 out of 5
At last there's a version of Mace
Fat Bob leaves him far off the pace
He isn't the best
'Cause he's lacking a crest
But with Infamy he becomes ace.
mnBroncos - 3 out of 5
I am not big fan of this card since lowers what your opponent needs as well, and Bara has so many four cost characters already I don’t know how many decks this will actually fit into your deck.
Rave - 4 out of 5
Don’t sleep on Mace. In a regular power rush, he’s a little bit of a gimmick, but Infamy is where he will shine. Bara/Lanni power rush is actually a pretty decent deck, with the caveat that Alliance is really really bad. Keep an eye out for this deck and Mace to break some hearts when the new Alliance replacement hits (the one that gives your out of house cards ‘Prized’ instead).
scantrell24 – 3 out of 5
Flashy but impractical. The ability is passive, so it’s ‘on’ all the time - even when your opponent is closer to victory.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
If he said to reduce the amount of power “you†need to win the game instead of the amount of power required by “each†player, oh man! He would be, well, probably just as mediocre as he is now. He’s kind of like a worse version of core set Rob. Renown is nice and the House Tyrell trait is pretty nifty if you use it with the new Randyll Tarly. But other than some gimmicky plays, like giving him infamy, this guy is just alright. Bara has much better 4-cost characters than Mace.

[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_riches-of-the-reach-aha.jpg'] Riches of the Reach 18 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 2 out of 5
I would only seriously consider this in a Joust built Noble Cause deck. One copy in a few other deck types… maybe.
Ire & WWDrakey - 2 out of 5
That is reaching quite far, isn’t it? Looks like the names between this card and Desperate Measures got accidentally flipped. Might have it's place as a 1x in some decks for those crucial Braavos or Bust -moments, but that's about it.
JCWamma - 3 out of 5
In this game it is vital to draw
This stops you drawing any more
But it fits as a single
'Cause my insides tingle
At the thought of winning with those four.
mnBroncos - 3 out of 5
I actually like this as a one of in almost every Bara deck not just noble cause. Late game this is amazing and top decking this mid game can help with that final push and with Bara having the worse card draw in the game this can be a big boon for any deck with a mid-level rush.
Rave - 3 out of 5
This is a solid tool for Noble Cause, since Noble cause will probably only draw 2-4 cards total by the point it should be winning. And as everyone else has said, only a single copy to avoid dead copies of the card from the effect itself and Negotiations.
scantrell24 – 3 out of 5
Riches of the Reach makes the cut in most Noble Cause decks, but only as a single copy. I’d be wary of triggering Riches on the first turn, but come turn 2 or 3 it’s a strong closer.
Sygmaghost94 - 2 out of 5
So how badly do you need draw? This card is pretty much all or nothing, which fits the theme of the new Baratheon agenda. The problem is that those decks are too inconsistent to win on turn 1 or 2, and this card makes it impossible to try for a later win. Sure, you can kind of get around it with Negotiations, but even then, this event is not worth it. If you’re begging for draw in a Noble Cause deck, look at King Robert’s Debt or The Battle at the Wall.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_gran-goodbrother-aha.jpg'] Gran Goodbrother 27 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 4 out of 5
Go crazy with the Warships and he’s your man. Comes in pretty cheap with a good icon spread. Probably worth one copy in a lot of decks.
Ire & WWDrakey - 4 out of 5
My, isn't Gran looking all young and spry in that picture. No negatives, a shiny green intrigue icon and more staying ability than most cards can dream of, Gran should be a decent addition to some very specific decks... but in those he'll probably make an asset of himself. Stick a Lord Captain of the Iron Fleet on him and you’re in business.
JCWamma - 4 out of 5
The Goodbrother who could be a Beric
Despite being somewhat Generic
With locations he's strong
But too weak to belong
As a Voltron, so cut the hysterics.
mnBroncos - 4 out of 5
A rather simple character, so isn’t blowing the game away, but always having a character that can’t leave the board is amazing to have. Characters that can’t be killed or discarded are even better with their new agenda.
Rave - 4 out of 5
I like the idea of this guy for character-lite decks. That way whatever influence/location effects you are focusing on, you still have some potential to challenge even when you’re setting up. That said, he’s a 2STR 2 icon guy, so he’s not going to turn any heads without help.
scantrell24 – 4 out of 5
Gran Goodbrother, like Gormond before him, brings a cheap intrigue icon, a positive trait and a useful ability to the table. Not particularly flashy, but solid. The downside to ‘cannot be killed’ is that he can’t be claim soak when you need it.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
I love these Goodbrothers! The intrigue icon is awesome for Greyjoy and the fact that he has a bannerman trait allows him to work in tandem with Gorold (weird how all those Goodbrothers synergize with each other). At 2 str, he’s not going to make a huge impact when he hits the board, but he has a decent effect that may allow him to stay around on Valar turns or against burn decks. Overall, he’s a pretty decent card that I can see slotting into many Greyjoy decks.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_longship-maidens-bane-aha.jpg'] Longship Maiden's Bane 24 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 4 out of 5
Pretty much guaranteed opposition against at least one challenge every round as it should always have at least 1 STR. Doesn’t help Black Sails though.
Ire & WWDrakey - 5 out of 5
Now, if it only were built from Iron, we’d be rocking. This one's a sturdy build, it'll sail it's way from shore to sea to shore more times than you can count, and will make it hard to claim anything from the Iron Islands without facing opposition.
JCWamma - 2 out of 5
Some more characterless support
But outside of that it's not sought
Sure with The Old Way
You'll like the CBK
But elsewise use Naval Escort.
mnBroncos - 3 out of 5
A very solid location, however, probably won’t see much play outside of Old Way. But is a must included in that deck.
Rave - 4 out of 5
This is a very strong defensive tool for character-lite Greyjoy, it’s setup-friendly, un-stealth able, and with a fleet of Warships on the board can nullify whole challenges by itself. In the early game with Character-lite, if you get a fleet out there, just being able to nullify intrigue alone is a huge bonus. In every other situation and deck, this card is decent.
scantrell24 – 3 out of 5
Greyjoy already has strength pumps in Naval Escort and LIV. Maiden’s Bane can’t initiate a challenge by itself. Yet it’s essentially un-stealth-able, immune to deadly on defense, and can participate in any of the three challenge types.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
I like this card because it can support several themes or it can be a stand alone decent card. In a warship heavy build, this card is aces. In a character-lite deck, this card is great for defending challenges and stopping some of that unopposed power gain. By itself, this could be a sneaky way to win a challenge by adding at least +1 str or it can chump block those deadly characters without fear of dying. Definitely a good card, but I don’t see this making it into every deck.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_eurons-favor-aha.jpg'] Euron's Favor 15 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 2 out of 5
Bluffing a deadly might help you out every now and then but there’s little reason to be discarding Warships.
Ire & WWDrakey - 2 out of 5
“Euron’s gifts are poisoned†- Victarion Greyjoy
JCWamma - 2 out of 5
A Warship's a valuable card
Not one you can eas'ly discard
The Deadly adds spice
And setup is nice
But including this one will be hard.
mnBroncos - 2 out of 5
...discarding a location is hard thing to do and the bluffing idea doesn’t add any value to me, because if I was facing that card I would want to make my opponent discard their warships, a warship is worth more than +4 strenght and deadly one time.
Rave - 3 out of 5
Hard to rate this one, because despite how the whole effect is out there on the board for your opponent to see, triggering this will often win the challenge for you, and maybe with some collateral damage. Though, I worry that Greyjoy’s lack of ability to stay ahead on card advantage will make this a dead card when you really need it to work.
scantrell24 – 3 out of 5
Euron’s Favor is at least average for a few reasons. First, it’s free on setup. Second, you only have to make your opponent think that you might discard a warship. In unopposed builds paired with something like Support of Harlaw on, say, an un-killable Asha… watch out.
Sygmaghost94 - 1 out of 5
I don’t care that this is 0-cost and setup friendly, this card is still terrible. Yes, +4 str and surprise deadly (which isn’t really a surprise) can be helpful to win a challenge, but having to discard a warship is not worth the cost. Even in a warship heavy deck this card will not shine. I cannot see one situation where I would want to draw this card over a character and I certainly can’t see a situation where I’d want to sacrifice a warship to win a challenge and maybe kill someone. Most competitive Greyjoy decks run anywhere between 1-3 warships. I usually run one and there’s no way I’m ditching my LIV for this.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_grand-maester-pycelle-aha.jpg'] Grand Maester Pycelle 21 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 3 out of 5
The response is meh but at least it’s a book crested Maester with a reasonable stats for Lannister. Make of that what you will.
Ire & WWDrakey - 3 out of 5
Grand ain't he? Both with, and without his beard, he shows his grand mastery of all things through having his facial hair in a quantum state, from which you can only decide whether he has it or not... by making a challenge!
JCWamma - 4 out of 5
A character Without His Beard
Despite how the picture appeared
At last for the Lion
A maester to rely on
And the Maester's Pycelle? Weird!
mnBroncos - 4 out of 5
Learned crest is always good, and Lannister has a surprisingly large amount of learned crests that can run outwit pretty safely if they want to. The comparison to Without his Beard to me isn’t fair the difference between an effect on a character and a event should never be compared. A one time effect that you have to save in hand until you trigger is much worse then a character that can actually do something and trigger when you want to. (not to mention that at times the effect can be useful I have seen it done few times).
Rave - 2 out of 5
I don’t understand this effect. I have never taken Without his Beard out of my binder, and here it is again in character form. I don’t see any real Maester synergy in Lannister to where the Learned crest would make a difference. Pycelle really deserves more than this, poor guy.
scantrell24 – 2 out of 5
Grand Maester Pycelle’s ability is only occasionally useful, so you’re paying for the Maester trait and Learned crest. He’s decent for Maester decks or rush decks desperate for Outwit fodder, but even there he’s nothing stellar.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
Hell, I’ll give him a 3 because he’s a decent version of Pycelle. A learned crest never hurts and with 3 str and no negative traits, he’s pretty solid. I actually like his effect. Without His Beard isn’t a terrible card, but Lannister has so many better events that it will never make the cut. This guy, however, isn’t fighting for a tight spot and is setup friendly. Being able to discard core set Khal Drogo with this effect will be oh so sweet.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_tywins-favor-aha.jpg'] Tywin's Favor 9 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 1 out of 5
You won’t attach this to someone important and probably not to your +2 gold characters. Maybe your 1 gold characters? Who will you attach this to?
Ire & WWDrakey - 1 out of 5
Tywin never did favor relinquishing anything useful.
JCWamma - 1 out of 5
Greedy Councilor loves this new Favor
And that combo is something to savour
But beyond that play
It just gets in the way
Only funny if you're an Enslaver.
mnBroncos - 1 out of 5
So 2 cards for 4 gold? Even in a deck wanting to trigger those gold effects aren’t even going to run this card most likely.
Rave - 2 out of 5
I want to say there is potential for this, but in the current state I don’t see it.
If you have the raven in-hand, and want to open with Blockade in a Song of Ice deck, this could be interesting, but I’m grasping at straws here..
scantrell24 – 2 out of 5
Aside from big-money combo decks, I would never run this. It’s just too much card disadvantage. There are better ways to create money, like Arbor Guardsman.
Sygmaghost94 - 1 out of 5
FFG must have been thinking, “If we make a bunch of 0-cost, setup friendly attachments, will people run them?†The answer is, in the case of Tywin’s Favor, no. Maybe if you only had to discard the attachment to get the gold it would be worth it, but having to discard a character is too steep a cost. I can see some funny plays with this and Enslaved, but even then it’s not very good. Don’t waste your time with this card.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_lashing-out-aha.jpg'] Lashing Out 23 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 3 out of 5
Kneeling is a cost and thus can’t be used to activate some neat effects that Lannister has. Maybe a single copy in most decks just to put your opponents off guard.
Ire &WWDrakey - 3 out of 5
Nope, unable to see any eyeliner on either of them. One of the worst disconnects between title, art, card effect and quote that we’ve seen in a long time.
JCWamma - 4 out of 5
Lethal Counterattack on Intrigue
Is enough to give challenge fatigue
For PBtT
It should be x3
It puts that deck into the next league.
mnBroncos - 4 out of 5
Lannister has some of the best events so this won’t be even in probably half of lannister decks, but won’t ever be a bad idea if you do decide to run this event.
Rave - 4 out of 5
I feel that this is the least likely of the 3 effects to level the field, but as is any card in this effect cycle, this is definitely something to fear. As JC mentioned, this is great for (and of course, against) PBTT. Also, this is a pretty evil way to ensure your Shadows and Spiders.
scantrell24 – 3 out of 5
Lashing Out has huge potential, but in practice it’s often a dead card, especially when you consider that many Lannister decks right now are running a high number of neutral characters who can’t kneel to pay this event’s cost. On the bright side, it smashes Power of Faith-type decks with non-kneelers for intrigue.
Sygmaghost94 - 2 out of 5
I don’t remember what I rated Loyal to the Last, but that one probably deserves a 2 out of 5 as well. With these events, it’s all about opportunity cost. What could you be running instead of this? What is the cost of the card, and is that cost worth what you get in return? In this case, Lannister has so many events that are better than this one. Do you really want to kneel 2 of your own characters to kill 1, maybe 2 attacking characters? Here’s a thought, why not just kneel the characters so they can’t attack in the first place. If you want to use Lannister kill events, go with Terminal Schemes or A Lannister Pays his Debts. But this card is just terrible, even in a PBtT deck.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_southron-heiress-aha.jpg'] Southron Heiress 23 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 3 out of 5
Ties into the new Martell agenda. Good weeny to follow around the Princes of the Sun version of daddy. Doesn’t synergize well with PoS Sand Snakes.
Ire & WWDrakey - 3 out of 5
Snake farm included.
JCWamma - 3 out of 5
A weenie that can pull its weight
Short of running into ally-hate
But she’s only strong
In a deck she belongs
Bloodthirst aside, second-rate.
mnBroncos - 4 out of 5
A 2 cost non-unique that can have stealth and deadly is crazy good! Only thing wrong with it is the fact that doesn’t work as defender as well. A 2 cost ally isn’t big deal to me, allys is only negative on 3+ cost characters. Needed a card like this for their new agenda to be playable.
Rave - 3 out of 5
It’s ok. When the effect is active or not, it’s not going to make a huge splash. Doesn’t really do much for the Sand Snake theme either.
scantrell24 – 4 out of 5
Southron Heiress is brutally efficient. Forget the Ally crest because Martell already has at least eight in any given deck.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
Maybe I’m just being generous because of all the crap Martell has received lately. The ally trait in this house has come to be expected, so I won’t even count that against this 2-cost card. The fact that she has a good chance of gaining stealth and deadly make her pretty good for her cost.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_secret-schemes-aha.jpg'] Secret Schemes 9 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 1 out of 5
This is just bad. Usual rule that there are a lot of other good Martell events already and this doesn’t come close to taking any of their places.
Ire & WWDrakey - 1 out of 5
They are not so secret anymore if you go and reveal them. If you would have doubts about it being useful even if it was free, then why would you ever pay (a lot) for it?
JCWamma - 2 out of 5
Card disadvantage from out the wazoo
And only in challenges too
But choosing which cards
Stops it sucking so hard
It's superior to U,U,U.
mnBroncos - 2 out of 5
I will be testing around with this card because being able to filter your hand by about six cards can be crazy strong and actually if was an older card with smaller card pool be a solid event, but with competing against other events, and the fact that you have to reveal the cards makes it hard to play as one of your events.
Rave - 1 out of 5
No card advantage. I feel like if this is actually going to give you a useful return, you don’t need it in the first place. Might as well just use Desperate Measures.
scantrell24 – 1 out of 5
Don’t run bad cards to get rid of other bad cards to try and find good cards. Just run good cards.
Sygmaghost94 - 1 out of 5
Eh, at least it’s not as bad as Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken. Still not worth your event slot, your influence, or your time. People can make the argument that you are getting rid of junk in your hand for better cards. Well why do you have junk in your hand and who’s to say that you don’t just draw into more junk? This card is not worth it.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_littlefinger-aha.jpg'] Littlefinger 18 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 2 out of 5
Crap against rushy decks. Immune to opponents’ events doesn’t immune him to your resets. He’s maybe worth bringing out if the shadow cost is 1-2 but you’re probably about to lose then.
Ire & WWDrakey - 3 out of 5
Giving the middlefinger to those in power. The immunity is probably one of his greatest assets. The claim raise is naturally really good, but getting it at the right time for the right price will be… tricky. Now, there are specific builds that will like him, naturally, but he’s by no means a shoe-in even for them.
JCWamma - 2 out of 5
In Melee he could have some use
The increased claim lets you let loose
But he's useless at first
His traits are the worst
And he enters too late for abuse.
mnBroncos - 3 out of 5
This can be a game winner! However.... be a hard card to make the cut most of the time useless card until late in the game and unless can close the game out soon probably won’t be enough to win before your opponent.
Rave - 3 out of 5
Too… many… words….
Not a bad late game card I guess. Kingdom of Shadows gives you 2 uses out of him, that’s cool.
(I don’t play Melee, so this is solely for Joust.)
scantrell24 – 2 out of 5
Littlefinger is… interesting. He’s just too damn expensive most of the time though. I don’t like the idea of drawing a card that’s dead to me until my opponent has 7+ power on his house card. At least he can wait in shadows until the right time… if that time ever comes. Maybe you can cheat him into play somehow? Nothing comes to mind though.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
I mean I guess he’s alright. He’s such an interesting card because you probably won’t play him until your opponent reaches around 8-9 power and then they have to have more power than you to use his effect. The fact that he doesn’t have to participate in the challenges to raise claim is really good. He does have the ally trait so he won’t like seeing Arys or Varys or Jorah, but his immune to opponent’s events means he doesn’t care about Dissension. With stealth to top things off, he’s an alright card. Maybe a 1 of in some decks.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_alleras-aha.jpg'] Alleras 34 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 5 out of 5
A repeatable War Without Quills and a touch harder to kill or blank thanks to no attachments. No Maester trait though. Not sure what the Citadel trait accomplishes.
Ire & WWDrakey - 5 out of 5
The Sphinx is the riddle, not the riddler. Some small burn-protection, your average stat-line and an extremely strong Response:, which doesn’t really require anything from you while screwing with your opponent’s game handily. Should often be seen in No Agenda decks as a 1x.
JCWamma - 5 out of 5
There are questions regarding 'his' gender
And the STR is reasonably slender
But that ability, wow
I mean, holy cow
It's now real tough to run an agenda.
mnBroncos - 5 out of 5
An auto include in any non-agenda and may be worth it for some decks to not even run an agenda is that good in the right build. Also, to me the effect of having opponent not being able to declare defenders is better then the attacker being able to win with a one strength attack makes it easier to push through your other challenges.
Rave - 5 out of 5
Wow. There is nothing bad about this guy. That response alone is amazing. Think about what this does to PBTT O_o.
scantrell24 – 5 out of 5
Bonkers in 75% of matchups. Still solid against other No Agenda decks. This might as well be a Lannister card.
Sygmaghost94 - 4 out of 5
So this card confuses me. It really encourages the no agenda theme, but his effect won’t work against someone not running an agenda. If this theme rises in popularity, he could easily be just a 2-cost bicon with no attachments. Which, don’t get me wrong, isn’t bad. But let’s assume your opponent is running an agenda. Okay cool, now you get to limit your opponent from 3 challenges to 2. Well, really? Who cares? In the control heavy meta right now, you’re pretty lucky if you can win 2 challenges, let alone 3. Yes, it is nice that you get to choose the challenge they can’t do and they cannot declare defenders during this challenge. Honestly, those last 2 are the only reasons I’m giving him a 4 out of 5 instead of a 3. If you’re not running an agenda, go ahead and slot in 1 of this guy. But you may find him pretty useless a decent number of times.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_sansa-stark-aha.jpg'] Sansa Stark 33 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 5 out of 5
Many people are talking about running her out of house. The response and low cost should be all the reason you need to understand why.
Ire & WWDrakey - 5 out of 5
Definitely doesn’t get the Sansa Prize here. What’s better than running the best in-house cards in several copies? Not having to worry about them becoming dead draws of course. Now the ability to tutor anything is just bonkers.
JCWamma - 5 out of 5
Cantrip of the very best kind
To fetch whatever's on your mind
Due to cards at command
It might not enter your hand
But it'll be a great help when you're in a bind.
mnBroncos - 5 out of 5
only downside is that they didn’t make this card like Hugor Hill and named her Alayne Stone, that would have been really cool.
Rave - 5 out of 5
I love this card. Great effect, great art. This is a huge boost for Stark, even as a 1 of. Not having to reveal the card is also nice.
scantrell24 – 5 out of 5
Gets the engine running in Kindly Man decks, or fetches whatever you need if you’re down in cards at command. Useful cost/icon/strenght/crest spread too.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
The only reason I’m rating it this high is because shadows are everywhere and the non-shadows Sansa is pretty useless at this point. This card is alright as far as tutoring goes. Yes you get to choose whatever card you want, but that’s assuming you have less cards at your command. After playing through this cycle, the only decks I see that can consistently rely on having less cards are KotHH decks, and Stark currently doesn’t have a great Hollow Hill build. So this is either a card in your hand that you hold off on playing until you can meet her requirements, or she is a 2-cost bicon noble that does absolutely nothing. At that point, I would rather have core set Sansa. If you are able to get her effect off, then great, but I would be surprised if that 1 card is the difference between winning and losing.

[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_robbs-favor-aha.jpg'] Robb's Favor 15 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 2 out of 5
It can be used during a power or military challenge but the character needs to attack alone in order to win. It’s a passive so at least it can’t be canceled.
Ire & WWDrakey - 1 out of 5
Apparently young kings can't play favorites.
JCWamma - 2 out of 5
This attachment has lots of conditions
But it hammers at the oppositions
Losing your card
Makes including it hard
But Hungry Mob gives you winning positions.
mnBroncos - 2 out of 5
Being able to do a 3 claim or 4 claim is bonkers strong, however, an attachment and this favor didn’t get the setup keyword and have to win challenge alone and have to discard the character makes this really conditional. And Stark actually has already a lot of great attachments.
Rave - 4 out of 5
Good. Well costed in both gold and attachment/event slots. +2 claim is a lot. With a Fear of Winter opening, you can often put this on a Hungry Mob to make your opponent’s board disappear. Against KOHH in the same situation, throw this on an intrigue weenie, and bleed them 4 cards. Also, the character only gets discarded if you win, so either the character is going to be forced out of play at some point, or your opponent is going to eat a minimum of 3 claim.
scantrell24 – 3 out of 5
Robb’s Favor would be much better with setup, but I still think it’s decent. Raising claim by two can easily swing a game. The effect is passive, so it can’t be cancelled, but it’s also non-optional.
Sygmaghost94 - 1 out of 5
Yeah, I’m lost here. So in order to raise the claim, you have to win the challenge in which attached character attacked “aloneâ€. Alright, so I’ll put this on one of my super strong characters to make sure I win the challenge. But wait, if you win the challenge you have to discard the attached character. Ooooookay, huh. Well I guess I’ll put this on a character I don’t mind losing so he must not be that strong and therefore unable to win the challenge on his own! And it’s a 1-cost attachment that is not setup friendly. Yeah, I think I’ll pass.

[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_viserion-aha.jpg'] Viserion 22 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 3 out of 5
It at least it has two icons, but it’s not as good as the Queen of Dragons version. Cost, strength and keywords make it okay.
Ire & WWDrakey - 4 out of 5
Golden wings alluding to a golden crown, eh? The QoD Viserion is probably strictly the best Dragon Character yet (due to location control for Targ being few and far between) making this one a bit of a hard sale… still, there are only two two Targ uniques with M, I and stealth. For some reason everybody else seems to look at Dragons as sets, while mix-n’-matching them is actually a pretty nice possibility. For example, in a Melee deck, this should combo nicely with the powergain Rhaegal to stop your key component from being easily killed down.
JCWamma - 3 out of 5
These dragons seem somewhat gimmicky
And getting all three could be tricky
When you do they're okay
And of course, CBK
But Bleeds? Are you taking the mickey?
mnBroncos - 3 out of 5
This is the best of the dragons and I love the idea of all of them just the fact that they can still be discarded really makes this versions much harder to play then the ones with great effects.
Rave - 3 out of 5
(On the dragons in general: Good if you need dragon effects for some reason. Sorta gimmicky, but unlike the other versions, you can ‘To be a Dragon’ these guys. Nice in character-lite Targ I’d imagine.)
Viserion is alright, probably the best new dragon as an individual character. The QoD Viserion is arguably the best of the that cycle though, so unless you want this ring of CBK the new dragons provide, I don’t see him being used often. If you want Dragon powergrab, he also adds a small layer of protection to QoD Rhaegal, which is worth noting.
scantrell24 – 3 out of 5
Meh. Nice stats and keywords, janky ability.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
Alright obviously by himself, this guy is not as good as the QoD version. However, when together with the other dragons, these guys are a force to be reckoned with. Obviously they synergize well with all of the dragon locations and work great with the QoD Dany. On a side note, they can be brought back with To be a Dragon which is cool. Plus an intrigue icon with stealth is never bad.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_drogon-aha.jpg'] Drogon 14 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 2 out of 5
He’s a mono icon with no interesting ability. Renown and no attachments keeps him out of the basement. Not as good as the Queen of Dragons version.
Ire & WWDrakey - 2 out of 5
Not very original naming that, just changing one letter… Sadly, the only reason to run this guy will be that Shagga-trap of trying to get all three on the board at the same time. Of all the Drogon’s, the Core Set one is still probably the best, since he offers a nice easy-to-use terminal for any Burn effects. Of course, since people seem to think in sets, he always tends to get forgotten over the QoD one.
JCWamma - 1 out of 5
Expensive Monocons sadden me greatly
They just never see play, innately
War Host of the North’s strength
Is discussed at great length
But have you seen it played against you lately?
mnBroncos - 2 out of 5
Only would run this one to complete the CBK on the dragons. As a three cost character on its own is pretty weak character.
Rave - 2 out of 5
Will only come into his own when all 3 are out, solely because he becomes a place to put power. Renown and CBK are a nice combo, so you have to give him that I guess.
scantrell24 – 2 out of 5
The targeted-kill Drogon is better, and even that one doesn’t see much play. I’ll bump him up to a 2 just because there’s a fair amount of Dragon support available.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
Spoiler alert, I’m going to rate all of these dragons with the same rating. Yes, by himself this Drogon is not as good as the QoD version. However, the cannot be killed granted to the other dragon makes him pretty decent when the others are out. Renown and 4 str are not too shabby either.
[/CRB]
[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_rhaegal-aha.jpg'] Rhaegal 22 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 3 out of 5
It at least had two icons with two good keywords which makes him middle of the pack in rating. If you like Dragons though use the Queen of Dragons versions.
Ire & WWDrakey - 4 out of 5
The dragon that was promised? That’s a pretty nice stat line-up at least. Rhaegal’s usually don’t offer much bang Control-wise, so this is actually a pretty nice addition to a more Control oriented Dragon deck, helping you maintain Core Set Drogon on the table as your terminal.
JCWamma - 3 out of 5
On these Dragons, just one final note
I must say that it gets my goat
That these are the third versions
And feel like diversions
'cause the Q.o.D. ones get my vote.
mnBroncos - 3 out of 5
As a whole this characters can make a solid deck, however, hope you're not facing bleeds. The funny thing is these Dragons probably go best in a Dothraki aggro build.
Rave - 3 out of 5
Nothing noteworthy. Not necessarily gimped like Drogon, but not worth looking at without CBK.
scantrell24 – 3 out of 5
Rhaegal is nothing special unless you have all three dragons out. Good luck with that.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
To wrap things up, we have another dragon that is not as good as the QoD version by himself. But, he works well with the other dragons so that’s something. Also something to think about with these new dragons is that the immunity is not self-referential. What this means is you can run a QoD dragon and then run the right dragon to protect it. For instance, if you love the power grab on QoD Rhaegal and want to make sure you keep him around, just run the new Viserion and then run the other 2 dragons like you normally would. Just some food for thought.

[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_bloodthirst-aha.jpg'] Bloodthirst 25 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 4 out of 5
Probably best for Martell shadow decks, heavy control or hyper Viper if that’s your sort of thing. We’ll see if it’s a T1 agenda, but it’s perfectly usable.
Ire & WWDrakey - 5 out of 5
Waiter, some more please! Let’s start reading this card by just really looking at what it says: “Yada-yada (mandatory drawback) draws 2 cardsâ€. Here’s a hint: Go look up all Agendas which allow their Controller to draw or otherwise gain cards. Now, go and look up how they have historically performed. There are some guys living out of a Hollowed out Hill that might make the route a bit rocky if left unchecked and you’ll most assuredly have to do some quite unexpected turns along the way… but we do think that your thirst will get sated by the end.
JCWamma - 3 out of 5
Draw is something that Martell lacks
'cept one that discards on attacks
But you walk a highwire
This could often backfire
Really it papers over cracks.
mnBroncos - 4 out of 5
The only downside to this agenda is actually Kothh. If that agenda does end up restricted at sometime in the future this agenda will probably be the best go to agenda for Martell. They don’t have a ton of draw so the draw two will always be great, and the best agendas usually do provide draw. Sure you gotta build deck around it but that is every agenda and I see FFG making more cards to support this card. Lost Oasis, Viper, Orphans, Return to hand effects, and others this agenda will have a T1 build sometime soon.
Rave - 4 out of 5
I’m going to go out on a limb here, and say this has the potential to be really good. The advantage this has over KOHH is the ability to use income locations (For Ghaston Grey and late-game To the Spears) Also, it lets you avoid adding draw gimmicks to your deck to maintain card advantage: Martell has a variety of easy and efficient ways to to keep from being overrun when an opponent has a superior character base. (Shadows and spiders/burning on the sands, Bungled Orders/Valar, icon control, Ghaston Grey/Parting Blow) I’d like to think this will do a good job of balancing the drawback Also, I really like the mix of this agenda and Parting Blow, since it’s an easy way to cap for the turn. With all of that said though, that drawback is really really bad. You’re going to have to make that To the Spears turn count. Keep an eye on this one, if you have doubts, I think it may surprise you.
scantrell24 – 4 out of 5
Bloodthirst is like TLV-light. It will backfire occasionally, but with proper deckbuilding you should be able to manipulate the character count in your favor. The best part might be that you’re not pigeon-holed into running a particular trait. A Bloodthirst deck could take several different paths to victory, and unpredictability is good.
Sygmaghost94 - 1 out of 5
Hands down the worst of the new house-specific agendas. I see two decks that would utilize this agenda. The first is obvious and that is a deck that relies heavily on influence and resetting the board. This deck of course would work much better with the KotHH agenda. The second deck is one that takes advantage of Martell characters that gain a benefit from having fewer characters, such as The Red Viper and summer Ellaria. But, this deck is better off with the Song of Fire agenda. In today’s control heavy meta with KotHH decks running around everywhere, I can see this card backfiring in a huge way. Please don’t use this card. You’re better off just running no agenda than this one.

[CRB='forums/uploads/got/med_summoned-by-the-conclave-aha.jpg'] Summoned by the Conclave 30 out of 35
emptyrepublic - 5 out of 5
Probably only a 3 in Melee, one of a lot of recent cards that are making agendas look like a bad deck building decision. Good plot to taunt your KotHH opponents with.
Ire & WWDrakey - 4 out of 5
Hate it when this happens just as you’ve ordered a beer at the Q&T. This is one of those cards which will again bounce back and forth in the meta indefinitely. When Agendas are popular, this acts as a perfect anti-tool for them… and when the pendulum swings back to No Agenda it again disappears from the meta. The problem is, that you just can’t rely on characters like you used to, and several decktypes will be overjoyed of you playing such a passive and constructive plot as your starter… making it probably better to run this mid-game/post-Valar to grab that key character for bulldozing back into the game.
JCWamma - 5 out of 5
Having one's agenda be "none"
Is something that's already done
But with new cards like this
FFG's taking the ****
And with such decks we'll be overrun.
mnBroncos - 3 out of 5
So many good plots to pick from but in a no agenda deck this will be in about 90% percent of those, however, with no agenda becoming more popular this could just be a Summing Seasons in some matches
.
Rave - 5 out of 5
Obviously amazing, charagenda or not. ..Except for the fact we’ll probably see a lot of agenda-less for awhile, and you’ll hate yourself for giving an opponent a free character at least once during most tournaments.
scantrell24 – 5 out of 5
Other No Agenda decks probably run Summoned by the Conclave too, so even if you give them a free card, they’re going to return the favor.
Sygmaghost94 - 3 out of 5
I’m really on the fence about the rating for this one. I want so badly to give it a 4, but then I stop and think about another plot. Why is it that people don’t run Summoning Season in joust? Oh yeah, because it gives your opponent a character as well. Now obviously there are some exceptions to this like in the case of a Brotherhood deck that relies on Beric. But for the most part no one wants to just hand their opponent any character they want. The same goes for this plot. Similar to Alleras, if the no agenda trend picks up in popularity (which it might considering a no agenda deck won Worlds) this card be a hinderance to you. I don’t need to sit here and explain why giving your opponent any character for free is bad. Yes, you will be able to trigger this with no downside against someone running an agenda. However, the risk of a mirror match in no agendas is what makes me give this card a 3 out of 5.

For 3 cost chars targ does not have many highlights, and for me the 4 cost dragons rarely fit in adeck because of the cost.
See it that way: A 3 cost Mil Int stealth unique with any other name would be an autoinclude for targ.
Ps: I love these articles keep it up!
The same way Young Griff isn't?
I think she's ideal for Martell/Bloodthirst. Nothing wrong a universal tutor effect on top of strong draw. First snow is a good combo. Too bad she doesn't work with Ghaston, probably for the best otherwise it would have been madness.
Except Lanni Tunnels already has a better Littlefinger.
For example, Sansa. I'm not sure she's that good to be deserving of a 5 like everyone else gave. She's nice to have, but given that her ability isn't guaranteed and is probably just a one-off, 3 sounds about right to me.
Are you crazy ??? This littlefinger is nothing compared to the SaS one.
In fact, from now on, all card reviews must be in the form of a poem. Limericks preferred, but anything with reasonably consistent structure or rhyming scheme will do.
I do disagree completely with his Bloodthirst review, but it's his opinion after all. :-)
so I got sh*tstormed to hell because I had the audacity not to review the review last time. First of all, I want to sincerely apologize for my misbehavior. Secondly, F*CK OFF! It is my decision when I deem it necessary to review this steaming pile of bullsh*t.
Period.
Fortunately our review team (I'm looking at two specific candidates) gave me enough incentive to power out more than twice as much rant content this time around. If that isn't a generous offer, I don't know what is. Let's get this party going!

"But let’s assume your opponent is running an agenda. Okay cool, now you get to limit your opponent from 3 challenges to 2. Well, really? Who cares? In the control heavy meta right now, you’re pretty lucky if you can win 2 challenges, let alone 3."
Something tells me that you’re not getting the point, so let me point this out for you. Let’s assume your opponent would win 2 challenges against you, and in a control heavy meta he can be darn happy that we’re letting him win two, that lucky bastard. Now we add Alleras to the equation. Okay, I’ll do this nice and slowly for you:

Okay, it’s starting to get annoying. I’m not the kind of person who deliberately distributes flout and fleer unevenly, and when I spit fire and bile I try to sear everything in my path, so no one can complain.
That said, goddamn, it’s hard to deliver fair beatings to everyone when some bloke like you with a bright-red self-painted bull’s eye on his bloody forehead is running loudly screaming through the room in a relentless attempt to wreck my f*cking nerves.
Obviously, none of them skilled players is ever going to play her out of house Stark. The only reason why she’s a 5/5 for most players is her incredible potential as a four drop in kothh decks. Now go figure!

Huh, for some reason (my head still hurts) I almost forgot to mention that the prize for astute observation and analysis goes to WWDrakey and Ire. Their breakdown of Bloodthirst approaches the subject from a completely different angle and that's what reviews should be like. Don't puke up redundancies like me on a ferry to England when I was 4, give your audience something worth reading.
Rant where rant is due, credit where credit is due.

And now the part of the review we’ve all been waiting for: The moment when I will finally lose a line or two about JC’s mad rhyming skillz. Let’s commence, shall we?
I’ll start off with a quote from the comment section itself. Cobrabubbles suggests
"Amazing limericks, James! You deserve some kind of award."
And I indeed will give him a kind of award. I award you, JC, a limerick from the master himself (guess who) for the most shameless butchery of cadence schemata and the most heinous perversions of what should’ve been an anapest.
Okay, I get it, it’s a limerick. It is supposed to be humorous and perhaps a bit bawdy. However, those adjectives refer to the topic of the poem, not its linguistic devices.
Please behold these firm lines, my JC.
This whole verse is here solely for thee.
Now is the time, my friend
Retire the rhyme, and bend
Knee to the Lord of poetry – Me.
I’m only going to analyze the rhythmic patterns (and the resulting flow) because that seems to be the biggest problem and I’ve got sh*t to do.
We start things off with two lines in classic anapest:
Please behold these firm lines, my JC.
This whole verse is here solely for thee.
In the two six word lines I shift the emphasis of each line towards the end by compressing the second iteration of the anapest. This adds speed and lets this second part sound more confronting than the introductory lines. The fact that ‘time’ and ‘rhyme’ rhyme and that emphasis is put on both words further accelerates the tempo.
Now is the time, my friend
Retire the rhyme, and bend
We return to our first tempo and rhythmic pattern with an artful enjambment that abruptly breaks the flow by pairing two emphasized words with ‘bend’ and ‘knee’. The final line then continues in a delayed anapest and peaks out with a deliberate pause before the awaited conclusion.
Knee to the Lord of poetry – Me.
I hope that helps.
*****
So this was an exceptionally long review of the review, too long for my taste. Definitely too long considering what garbage I've been reviewing. JC is obviously drunk, sygmaghost is practicing his role as counterrevolutionary and the rest is just a good old bowl of f*ck all.
I think I'll give you a 4 out of 5. I mean, you're incompetent as ever but at least you've entertained me this time. Even if it wasn't a hot-lady-serves-you-a-delicious-menu but more of a poo-gets-thrown-at-the-jester kind of entertainment.
Cheers!
ps: All of my knowledge about poetry is in German, i.e. if you found a mistake, you are allowed to keep it.
You should write articles.
Only on that one? I'm kinda disappointed.
I was really digging the bottom of the barrel for many of those, and even mixed up mascara and eyeliner on one, so that it's unintelligible. Apart from Mace (which is kinda apt, considering the card effect) and Gran (who really does look like an old lady), I'd give our "assorted jabs at names" -line of reviews a 0.5 out of 5, and "Should have never been printed... but actually this is a digital format, so no problem there."
that gets discarded probably during the same marshaling you play him by ally hate.at least this one gets a challenge phase...
Ser Arys Oakheart is really the only marshalling-phase based Ally hate, and he won't be there every time. Varys comes into play during challenges, and Jorah can too with Targ's jumping shenangians.
I'll take the Littlefinger who usually costs 1-3 gold over the Littlefinger who usually costs 6+.
With the next pack containing the prized mechanic the distinction between joust and melee ratings becomes more important.
There are tons of cards that are better in one format over the other. It is difficult to rate them using both perspectives without having a separate rating system.
