Great discussion. I'm glad that poll received enough responses to be relevant, although I wish I had done a few things differently, such as including a separate "ban" option for Wheels.

Thanks. Great podcast, as always.

Was wondering whether making wheels within wheels limit one per deck would be enough to balance the card.

Balance from a deck-power level perspective, probably somewhat... since some of the flashier combos with specific plots would be discouraged. However I'm not convinced it's that great an idea. The trouble is that it doesn't change the power level of the card, just the reliability (37% chance of the first turn 'combo') and, unlike restriction, it doesn't reduce the power level of the rest of your deck. Furthermore, it'd probably remain an auto-include at 1x...

Tools that might make it more balanced would include 1) changing the phase (plot:), 2) adding a gold cost (functionally meaning you have to work harder to do it in draw, or telegraph it more to do it in challenges - the marshalling dangers remain), 3) requiring you to kneel 2 lanni uniques..

But since all of that is errata, obviously it's a terrible idea :P

It would be interesting to see some cards released with a very high power level that are limited to 1 per deck. Not degenrate cards, but awesome one-off effects. I could live with Wheels being limited to 1x, but I see Alex's point too.

come on Rotation !

you guys can push that through right ?

not for me ( I own all the cards ) but for my dying meta who cannot get over the initial buy in

Yeah you are probably right would just love to see WWW be playable being a lanny player and I just don't think restriction will be enough.

I never like "1 per deck" as an answer to a card being too good. It often encourages that card to be used more (easier to fit in) and can lead to someone who is losing making a comeback based on a fluky draw. I am far more in favour of card errata than most, and in this case a errata to "plot phase only" seems about right.

They've printed several "limit one per deck" cards in Netrunner.

And AGOT for that matter as well.

All of the 1 per deck cards in AGOT so far are resource (reducer) locations. I don't think anyone can reasonably make the case to restrict the OP River Row, but it and the other 0 cost reducers are a bit good for 3 of. I think that's a very different case to WWW.

To be fair, the dragon eggs are 1 per deck. But they suck. Unless you are playing build-a-jaqen. Then they are bonkers.

That would be why I forgot them!
