Beyond the Wall Istaril Ratatoskr Trig livingend Martell Rules FAQ Podcast AGOT
Click here for the podcast. And Darknoj is gone again... on the week everything happens. I enlist a flock... gaggle... murder... group? of Germans to help me instead. First, Alex T. goes over his favourite house's adaptation into 2.0. Helmut (ratatoskr) and I then give you our take on the 2.0 rules, without - I promise - getting too technical. Lastly, Florian joins us to discuss the pre-Gencon FAQ we've all been waiting for.

I won Morgantown with HoD Maiden's Bane. The only other player was a store employee playing Stark HoD Riverrun. Sad thing is if family issues had not kept me from being able to make the NC regional then I probably would not have gone, and it would have been a 1 person regional.
Nothing concrete, but I really do think it was a Mace Tyrell + Infamy + Dothraki (power for each card in hand), with Power-monocons in order to win a single power challenge, discard the dothraki and pick up enough power to win.
It didn't advance to the final 8, and the tournament was won in the end by Targ N/A against Stark.
So it was more of a constructive power-grab combo rather than an infinite loop or lockdown combo? That's great!
Hey there, I'm the guy who asked about the Used Pile's information openness. Frankly, I disagree that it's a failing of the rulebook that the precision for the other zones was so precise (and therefore highlighting the lack of precision elsewhere). I think the more precise the authoritative rulebook is, the better - if anything, I'd like to see future revisions of the rulebook or the FAQ to include the information that the Used Pile is open. And as for other card game conventions, like about hands and decks, I think those too shouldn't be taken for granted. Is it so bad to include a bullet point like "Draw decks are hidden information" or "Hands are hidden information for all players except their controllers"?
I think it's a good thing when information holes are discovered and plugged, and it shouldn't feel like a failure when such problems are identified as long as you've demonstrated the diligence that the 2.0 rulebook clearly shows.
heh, it sort of irks me quite a bit that I fought fairly hard to get Indianapolis a regional (to no avail) and WV only ended up pulling 2 people. No one ever comes to Indy for anything... right?
Yeah that's rough, our little Rhode Island meta could have pulled that nevermind is we brought down Boston and NYC.
FFG tried to spread out the regionals geographically and this is what can happen. Instead of focusing in on the locations of concentrated metas, they clearly wanted to give other areas a shot at drawing in local players.
I think that once the 2nd edition regionals come around, new and unfocused locations will make a lot more sense. We should see a number of new players popping up from all over the place where maybe regionals in Maine and West Virginia could potentially flourish.
Another reason they SHOULD have regionals spread like this for second edition is because it's a great place for local players to meet and possibly start their own metas. A few of the core Boston meta members came to a regional in Newington, CT 2 years back and that's where a few of them met. Then they came to the regional I ran in Manchester, CT and they met a few more players from their area. It's also where we all met up with the New York meta and a wonderful friendship began as a result.
My point is, yeah, it sucks to have a very, very low turnout at any official tournament, but the risk IS worth it because you never know who will meet and maybe 1 or 2 metas will be born!
A Conclave of Germans? (Konklave von Deutscher?)
Was informed they were not going to accept the prize packet sent to them and return it to sender (or sell it on ebay if forced to pay for the packet). WTF is that !!
So yeah no Regional for me and no swag.
It is the last 1.0 regional ever and this happens, I am not happy.!!!!!! If you put in for a Regional run it!! Or don't put in and let someone else do it !! (sorry for the rant but the rum is talking here and is saying what I am feeling)
Anyways if anyone has extra prize support from this Regional season they want to let go, drop me a line. I would have prefered to win it, but apparently that option was taken from me.
Maybe it'll be worth the attempt to see if they'll be willing to sell the kit to you. Then, maybe you can run a "regional" at some neutral location. Even if it ends up losing the FFG seal of approval, I'm sure the online community will count it as if it were a normal regional.
It's a shame they did this to you guys. Sometimes gaming stores are real scarecrows.
