Insight and Renown Episode 02 - Targ Burn

Having already examined how strength boosts have worked in the past, let's take a look at the opposite - the many strength penalties that House Targaryen can bring to the table!

In the 2nd Edition of the Game of Thrones Living Card Game, we're in a unique position - thousands of card have come before us, but only a few are available for play right now. As new cards come out, what are the chances that we'll see some old abilities and mechanics revisited? The Insight and Renown podcast posits that it's pretty damn near 100%.

As a 12+ year veteran of this game, I've seen a lot of cards come and go, and thought it might be interesting to take a look at the history of this game, and see what cards and themes we might see again in the near future. Every episode will highlight one theme or mechanic in 2nd Edition, and look at some of the cards from the CCG era and 1st Edition that might be reprinted, or at least serve as inspiration for a new card.

Cool podcast! Didn't Killer of the Wounded get a 3x per round errata at some point?

Thanks! I think that this was indeed how they ended up nerfing it. Most of the infinite combo cards were fixed with a 3x limit - Support of Saltcliffe, Bran Stark, Hellholt Engineer, Shadows Robert... as I say, FFG had a bit of a blind spot. Maybe an episode on infinite combos is in order!

I got mentioned on a Canadian podcast! Yay!

I'm really enjoying both this and the Copper link youtube channel for framing things in terms of CCG mechanics. As I mentioned elsewhere, it also drives home how big a loss the community took from CCG to LCG, as there really weren't people doing this sort of contextualizing when reprints came out from the CCG.

Thanks for bringing that knowledge back into the community!
