Great episode again guys !
Love the deck building stuff and the reasoning behind the choices.
Thank you so much for the Taming Dragons Prop that was awesome !! (but we are from Moncton not Halifax but the Hali crew is cool as well)
Also thanks to Glazer for messaging with me a few weeks ago about a Lanny deck we both were playing. His tip was a great include for me.
and as always
#LOVEtheDangerZone
Many apologies for the Atlantic Canadian screw up! I completely forgot, in the heat of the moment, the name of Moncton and went to my standard eastern Canada hotspot - Halifax (spoiler alert, my girlfriend is a Haligonian).
Glad you enjoyed the episode and keep up the good work on Taming the Dragons!
I give Roy bonus points for accurate demonyms.
It is a learning process.
@fauxintel if you are ever up here visiting drop us a line and we will arrange a shindig of some sort !
Just sayin' there is a lot of beer in the Maritimes and we like to share !
Vszeus - does that invite extend to other cohosts perhaps?
Also, glad I could help with the deck. Consider this an open invite to anyone - I'm always willing to help.
We would love to have all you guys come. We need more excuses to flip carboard and enjoy a beverage or three !
Heck with the current exchange rate you could fly here on your pocket change lol !!
That is still my favourite deck & your idea made it better !!
For a thank you maybe I will make you a t-shirt or start a hashtag...what's that you say... already been done... hhmm guess my thanks will have to do ;-)
I've built and played with a Nights Watch Rose deck focusing on Left, Right and the Wall so it is cool that with the same factions you can build very different decks.
Realized I skipped over posting a link to the list, though the deck was live here on the site.
@Stormborn, there's an amazing amount of depth available in what's effectively just the core set, thanks mainly, I think, to the new banner system.
I'm really getting impatient for more cards, though.
1) A note on "commissioning art" for the alt-art decks - most of those are just full-art versions of the default art for the cards
2) I agree with Kennon on melee - and his comments on how the existing 1st edition players are colouring the perception of melee. They don't have to be 2 day events, they can also be separate events. You're also not forced to participate in both.
Stahleck support was so-so for melee - no card design but still official mats (1st ed core Cersei) and house cards etc.
I think separate kits are not a bad idea. Really, I'm in for about anything that actually shows that FFG wants to follow through with supporting Melee as a format, which they've been claiming for years.
I think as Dave suggested, the way forward is to actually promote and support Melee regionals. Don't force the stores to host a weekend event if they want a Melee regional - just put out kits for both Melee and Joust regionals, and maybe the same store takes both kits in an area and has a big weekend, or maybe they host them on separate weekends, or maybe different stores entirely get them - as long as they don't then schedule the events for the same day, everything works out!
I'd definitely love to see more Melee representation though overall, the way it's treated as a format is shameful given that by all rights it should be Joust's equal (and Melee is actually the game I prefer, I think it is a more skilful game to play well, not less as people often claim).
It's cool to know you liked the False Banner enough to do an entire deckbuilding episode on it, and then didn't even include Lannister!
One interesting thing to note - though you ended up with 18 Night's Watch cards, only 9 of them were non-loyal. So even if you could find Tyrell equivalents for the loyal NW cards (for instance substituting out the Ravens for Pleasure Barge, Paxter for Old Forest Hunter and so on), this deck was literally not possible to build the 'conventional' way round because it wouldn't meet the requirements of the banner agenda. Cool to see the idea actually produce a unique deck
.
Brandon Sanderson might not write as well as Martin but at least I get 2 to 3 books a year instead of 1 every decade or so!
