There Are No Decks Like Me - Iowa Regional Championships Runner Up

Small Council There Are No Decks Like Me Clu
What I love about this deck it's utter and complete appearance of meh. The subtle restrictive elements housed here work together to create fewer and fewer options. The game is over before the opponent notices it. Jeremiah Duggan carved his way 7-0 to the championships and appeared unstoppable.Breakdown
Greyjoy has top foured earlier regionals with a strong winter subtheme. This is not one of those decks. The agenda creates a win-win situation, if you are below oppotnent's hand size you get a free intrigue claim. If you have more cards, whatever, you are already winning the battle of hand attrition.
The plots are the kind that put on a hard hat everyday and do their job without complaint. Fleeing to the Wall is the best location control card in the format. A Time for Ravens was the first plot created providing card advantage, the second was At the Gates. Valar is simply great, see Kennon's article http://www.cardgamed...-must-die-r203. The rest is filled out with punishing two claim plots.
Wrap Two Hands and Squeeze
It's easy to see the benefits to positive effects for your deck, the Ashas and Wexes. However, this deck doesn't win by overpowering your joustmate, it takes options away until there are no plays left.
At the begining of the game both players have a ton of choices after the five gold setup and a full seven cards in hand plus two more from the draw. All seven of the plots are at your disposal. As soon as the first plot is played you now only have six plots left to pick. The natural flow to the game is fewer and fewer options due to less cards in hand and plots until zero things can be done as the loser.
Most decks concentrate on maximizing their resources to present a dominant attacking force. When Jeremiah resolves cards they restrict choices, from resources available to triggered effects. The opponents choices are accelerated to zero while the Greyjoy options continue a steady decline. First person to nil, loses.
There are a few choke elements with Ice Fisherman, the agenda, and Cragorn. Stealing a gold here and there after the white raven restricts the income by one can keep opposing characters off the board. Reducers become nullified with Gilbert, River Blockade, and Murenmure. Alannys, Finger Dance, and Seasick keep the squeeze on triggers.
Card Draw
Samwell with the four ravens to be searched up with A Time of Ravens provides a cheap engine. Seastone Chair and Longship Iron Victory give a supporting role and a strength pump.
Location and Attachment Control
Fleeing and Newly Made Lord combo up to wreck control decks. Mance can steal kingdoms and the Captain attachment on Asha is sick. There isn't any attachment control, yikes.

Jerod Leupold started playing AGOT during the release of Flight of Dragons and declared his allegiance to Greyjoy at an early age. He cut his teeth playing in the MN, MO, and WI regionals trying to build dominant characterless or recursion decks. He has placed first in one lowly attended regional, second in four others, and top eighted in two out the four GenCons he has attended. For one year he was the number one ranked limited player. He currently resides in Iowa City and is proud to be a part of the Knights of the Corn meta.
During the years of 2005-2011 he was the owner and tournament organizer for Critical Hit Games that ran magic events on a weekly basis including being asked to host the state of Iowa championships twice. He has been a tournament player for several ccgs including 7th Sea, L5R, Spoils, and is the current King of the Hill champion of the 2011 GenCon Invasion tournament.

For triggers you have satin, murnemure, and fisherman. During challenges you have wex and bloodthirty crew that get the most bang for your buck here.
There's just enough discard to power Asha and Alannys with Finger Dance, Bloodthirsty Crew, and Theon.
