Depends on what you want do and how you want to play. If you just want to play out of box with friends, one is plenty as it lets you build 4 starter decks out of one core set at the same time.
If you want to be competitive and build decks with reliable chances of getting copies of your key cards then you need two core sets.
Unless you want to build a bunch of decks using the same objective sets at the same time all you will ever need is 2 at the most for this game since at the most you can have two copies of an objective set per deck (unless the card says otherwise).
Even when just playing with friends I still think 2 core sets is the way to go. A lot of people have complained about various features of the game that are solved by a second core set.
Also, Tiny, awesome that you are doing this cast, thank you!
I agree that playing it on your own, just gives the opponent an advantage, but doing it after they've finished and before you draw could be devastating.
Enjoying the podcast!
She will always be captured.
No, you remove the tokens when she is captured. Captured is out of play. Page 27, In Play And Out of Play.
It is not that I am missing your point but I think you believe you take the focus tokens off when Leia is rescued which is not the case. Here is how it goes, you have Leia, you play Swindled on Leia, Leia attempts to go back to your hand but cannot due to her constant effect and therefore is captured at a DS objective. Leia is now out of play and therefore all of your focus tokens are removed. Attack objective, free Leia, repeat to win.
If you do decide to double down, a second SWLCG Core definitely offers a better value than a second copy of any other LCG Core. You will have a full playset of each objective, so there is NEVER a need to buy a third Core unless you want to have several similar decks assembled at the same time. I certainly felt like my second SWLCG Core was a better purchase than my second AGoT, Netrunner, or LotR box.
So, I guess my ultimate verdict is a little complicated: you don't need two Core Sets, but you also won't wind up with tons of wasted cards if you do buy a second copy. Don't feel compelled to purchase two, but don't worry too much if you start feeling the urge to grab another Core.
True this could certainly be useful. However, it means you have to survive yet another turn of their attacks which may be difficult. The card certainly can be good. My point is more that you have to give up Motti's resource pod to use it.
We had a tourney yesterday and since not everyone could get a 2nd copy, it had to be played with only 1. Hopefully i was lucky and got 2nd place. The one i lost was because of a fu...g ewok stealthing my rancor trump card when the dial was at 10 and he had like 2 attackers
My opponent yesterday used it to good effect. He only owns one core set right now so was using all the Sith pods and I was using a Jedi deck to try them out. I had Obi Wan, Guardian, and Believer out. He played this card during my Force phase and so my board was reset right before his turn started. He was able to get in some free attacks. Now I still ended up winning as it came down to the dial at 10, 2 DS objectives destroyed and he only had 5 cards left in his deck but the card certainly slowed the game down enough that it became a lot closer a struggle between the two of us. Also in a rather fitting way Luke and Vader died in the same engagement.
Ewoks are better than people give them credit for. I like them with Han.
