Welcome to "With Fire and Blood," CardGameDB.com's article focusing on the in's and out's of Westeros' rightful rulers, House Targaryen. I am pleased to announce that there will be three dedicated minds working to bring you insightful articles on topics ranging from competitive builds, underused tech, metagame concerns, expansions on cardpool and so on, but to start with, we want to take you readers on the journey that we contributors have traveled: from the Core set to competitive Targ players. You can read a bit more about us at the bottom, but let's get to the cards. The Core set cards, that is.

First Tilt - Board Game Balance

One of the questions newer players often have is about balance in the game. Are the core set decks balanced against one another? Winter is coming, and as it approaches I have decided to try my hand at representing House Stark to many players new and old alike. Many of you know me as a diehard Stark loyalist, and that is very true, I have never played a non stark deck in a tournament setting. Reading the books I always loved Eddard, Robb and of course the wolves, so it was only natural that I strike into the game with the house that I pulled for so much. Over the course of the next few months I hope to explain exactly what makes Stark field solid decks, how to build a solid deck out of the house, and how to deal with the top tier 1 decks that you see in the top 8 of many tournaments.

Leaving the Quill & Tankard Inn late at night after having several portions of its renowned strong cider, you find yourself in a dark place. A murky side alley with its own rules, where novices fear to walk and the sphinx acts friendly. You have entered... The Bad Side of the Oldtown.

Welcome to the first edition of Scheming on the Sands, a planned ongoing series focusing on House Martell; one of the six principle factions you can play in A Game of Thones: LCG. My name is emptyrepublic and I hope to take you deep into the heart of Dorne to explore my favorite faction in the GoT:LCG. Each edition I want to turn the spotlight on different aspects of the Martells and the land that they rule. I plan on pulling together lore with game mechanics to provide a comprehensive understanding of who the Martells are, how they work in the LCG, and the ways they can wreak terrible vengeance upon your foes.
