Beyond the Wall, Season 3 Episode 13

Beyond the Wall Istaril Darknoj Podcast Tomdidiot Kennish Calm Over Westeros Game of Thrones

This week, I think we're setting a new record for timezones spanned. We start off with a roundup of the news where Darknoj proves Istaril wasn't paying close enough attention (drat!), and then have Kenny (Kennish) and Tagore (tomdidiot) join us to review CP5: Calm Over Westeros. We come dangerously close to all picking the same 3 cards! In a breif Town Crier, they each tell us about their local stops in the Road to Bangkok and Road to Stahleck, respectively. The co-hosts then break form (again) to turn the Tip of the Week into something that really isn't - more of a cry for help, really - and then wrap up with their usual closing comments, including what tournaments you're going to see them at this year.

As we stated in the cast, we're looking for some help with it, as the current time commitment isn't sustainable for either of us and we want to do everything we can to keep bringing our listeners quality content.

If you think you might be willing to help out long-term as producer or producer/co-host, tell us! We'd be open to changes in form, focus, or content – you'd not be forced into a pre-existing creative vision for the cast. However, you'd need to keep up-to-date on news and community happenings, volunteer a considerable amount of your time for planning, recording, editing, assembly and promotion of the cast. Experience at these tasks is not required – we'll show you the ropes. You'd need a stable internet connection, a decent microphone, passable command of the English language (no worse than Darknoj's!) and the ability to collaborate with us at times where our children are asleep (we generally record after 20:30 Eastern, or 13:00 on weekends). Remuneration would be commensurate with that offered by other Thrones casts, i.e. nothing.

If you're interested in being part of this effort in some capacity - please email us (beyondthewallpodcast@gmail.com), ideally letting us know what you'd like to bring to the cast. This isn't a job interview - it's a pitch consisting of what kind of things you'd like to do with this platform (or what kind of help you can offer us)!

Thanks for the shout-out. 17 players with top 8 cut certainly looks ridiculous. But (as I'm sure you know), if you cut to top 4, you end up with 3-1 records potentially missing the cut.

The downward spiral of the FB group is really unfortunate. It's 80% rules questions, off topic posts, and complaining about the mods with 20% actual content.

A few listeners have written to alex and requested i stop the mountain jokes for their sanity. I will therefore stop. <3 listeners <3

As a note about MTG cutting prize support - they just posted a 4+ million dollar loss in 2015 as well as seeing a dip in OP revenue after increasing the number of OP events by 50%.

Those are interesting figures.

That can't be a picture of Tyene Sand.  Are you sure that's not supposed to be Myrcella?

Looks very much like Tyene - sweet and innocent looking, looking non-threatening... and yet Doran won't even touch her hair for fear of being poisoned. Besides, she called it Tyene on her facebook page :P

I just wanted to report technical difficulties. There was a lot of static interference during Jon's Mountain jokes.

But the mountain is there and needs to be climbed.

Bring back the Mountain Jokes! :)

Good luck with the search for assistance, while it's perfectly understandable it'll suck to have the best Thrones podcast only every other week. :(

I haven't read the books so I only have the tv show to go off of.   There's must be a huge disparity between her appearance in the show and in the books.

I just listened to this cast today and was very disappointed that mountain jokes were edited out.  They need to come back ... though I guess now they will be Ser Robert Strong jokes?

Also, I just want to comment on Alex's statement that Winterfell crypt's ability is not Nedly.  I think the ability is very Nedly, it just doesn't match the art.  After a character is killed or sacrificed (the farmer's boys that Theon burns) shuffle a character into its controller's deck (Bran and Rickon hiding in the crypt).
