Beheading Ned - It's Good To Be The Khal

One aspect of Nedly play that is perhaps the most interesting to me is in terms of individual cards and their characteristics. Oftentimes, you'll see a card with an ability that just so well mirrors that character's personality or role within the story, but other times you'll wonder what the designer was thinking by giving that ability to that character. Since I'm nothing if not judgmental, I thought that we would spend the next few weeks looking at some individual characters and seeing how their particular abilities match the persona from Martin's epic saga.

This week in Ours is the Fury we bring our trek into Baratheon Resilience to a close, by looking at neutral options with particularly auspicious synergies to either the Baratheon cardpool or playstyle. Since the subject matter here is quite vast, we'll take a slightly different approach this time, and narrow our concentration to both the most important Recursion & Prevention cards and those that can be especially helpful for Baratheon in the current meta.

One of the most important cards to affect our game in recent times is the latest agenda, House of Dreams (ARotD). It's flexible, can be played out of any house, and every house has many options to choose from when it comes to playing with it. In this edition of Rise of the Kraken, we'll be looking at how the Greyjoys can use this agenda to their advantage.

There's been another deck rampant in the Midwest recently. Zach Bunn, proprieter of the Covenant Store in Tulsa and TeamCovenant.com online site, recently piloted his own version of a Targaryen Knights of the Hollow Hill deck to a top 4 finish in the Chicago regional, to the winning spot in the recent Valar Midwestous tournament, and to the first Swiss ranking and overall top 4 finish at the Moonboy. Lets take a look at how it differs from other recent dominant KotHH Targaryen decks.

Welcome back, intrepid readers, to yet another installment of All Things Shagga. This week, we’re taking a look at one of my favorite Shagga cards from the Brotherhood Without Banners cycle- The Neutral Faction! “But Kennon,†you’re thinking, “you already did this last week!†Right you are, ser! But this week, we’re going to drive and take a look at some other neat tricks that you can pull with this card. Last week, we focused our time on getting a draw engine up and running through Hollow Hill and then maintaining that with our character selection, but there’s another location (or locations *hint hint*) that lend themselves to an interesting, but rather different deck.

An Empty Throne - Introduction

in Game of Thrones
We (SerJaime and Tobi) are happy to present another Game of Thrones melee series: An Empty Throne.
You might be thinking "do we need another melee series?" And our answer is yes. While The Grand Melee written by bigfomlof will focus cards and decks in melee games, An Empty Throne will focus on general mechanisms. We want to talk about diplomacy, choosing titles and similar issues.
Melee is still not that popular (in Stahleck only one-third of the players joined the melee tourney) and we would like to increase the number of melee players. So today we want to talk about three common problems some joust players have against melee games.
