Does the Troop Transport make Ammo Depot Swarm Worr top tier? Let's find out.
Warlord
Order by: NameTypeCost
Total Cards: 0
Delay deployment with low cost units and supports in order to out-last and out-maneuver your opponent's deployment in order to gain a command and combat advantage.
Ammo Depot accentuates this strategy by giving you extra card draw as a general action while also giving you resilience to choke.
This makes the deck theoretically very formidable against Kith with resilience to routing, choke, and a near equal ability to flood the board.
Ogryns help the Chaos match-up, which is easily the toughest by only really being vulnerable to on board threats. In addition to being good in general, Inquisitorial Fortress is also one of the few answers in the game to Gleeful Plaguebeast.
Still testing whether Void Pirate is overkill and you might want Rogue Trader instead, Ratling might also be okay even without Catachan.
Speaking of Catachan, I don't run it because it slightly goes against our strategy for stalling deploy and also because Troop Transport also fill it's job as spot damage.
The rest of the deck is pretty standard AM fair, no surprises there.
Feel free to comment ideas, findings, criticisms, threats, heresy, and changes you would make below. :)
Sample Hand:
Total Shields: 0
Average Shields Per Event/Attachment: 0
Total Command: 0
Average Command Per Unit: 0
I like it. Two thing I would want to try and fit in are Mystic Warden and Muster the Guard, but not sure what I would replace - it's pretty tight already. Maybe the Void Pirates, as you say they might be overkill, but I feel like if you had MW or MtG, the Void Pirates would be needed. Also, I'm not sure about Stalwart Ogryn. I have them in my Worr, but they haven't done much. Sowing Chaos is rough though, so that's a vote in favor of them.
Asklepios - I'm sure you have your reasons, but I'm not sure I could get behind Warbikers in Worr. Over Tallarn Raiders, Sanctioned Psyker, Iron Guard Recruit, and Stalwart Ogryn... It's a bold move, at least. Not even sure I would include them over Snakebite Thug.
Warbikers are better when brought in via Staging Ground, as a 4 damage swing is much more impactful than a 2 or 3 damage swing. That's my guess for the inclusion.
@estyles: Muster is something worth considering and I haven't tried it but you can easily do -3 Warrant -3 Chimera, +2 Muster +1 Suppressive +3 Inquisitor Acolyte. It theoretically gives you more resilience to being hand screwed as that Inquisitor's give you even more card draw for a big muster turn at the cost of being more vulnerable to big sweepers like Warpstorm or Area Effect.
@Askeplios: Not a bad build, I do think that more supports might be better than events because events can clog your hand at times preventing uses of Ammo Depot (a problem I encounter every now and then when playing Zarathur). I think the real key will not only be in balancing that event/support dichotomy but also in balancing the resource costs to amount of card draw. There's a lot of ground to test here, such as Muster the Guard, as well. I'm not sure if Augur's are as good as Elysian without Inquisitorial Fortress, the best you can hope for is the signature support but everything else is likely a mediocre pull. Augur would be better with 3x Troop Transport, however, as it nullifies the limited keyword on the card and can be a decent swing in a big fight.
Limited is interesting. Running simulations on your deck, dropping 1x Promo costs you 0.2 hammers on average on the opening hand, but the number of Limited clashes drops considerably from 22% to 15%.
There was a motley crew of 8 players who showed up, basically just all the big name regulars from Dayton and Columbus.
Round 1 -vs- Eric (Captain Cato Sicarius):
Eric is one of the newer guys on the block here in Ohio but he is a fantastic player having won a few GNK tournaments using Starblaze. Cato was his original warlord and I was expecting a rough match if he managed to clear out my swarms for big gains. Luckily the first 3 planets were green and I managed to get a troop transport on the board all three turns and threatened too much damage with the guardsmen potential and hardy units on the board for him to do much of anything. Cardinis isn't enough since nearly everything has 2 HP and Librarian and Chosen are much less effective against swarms of 2 HP units. His lackluster command draw didn't help him either. Win on planets in 3 turns.
Round 2 -vs- Kevin (Nazdreg)
Kevin has been a long time finalist and contender at events going all the way back to the Soldiery's store championship last year where I faced his monstrous Ku'gath deck with Aun'shi in the finals, only to win by the finest of hairs at the last planet. He normally plays Eldorath so I found Nazdreg to be a very odd pick. Turns out he was just giving Ork Landa and MRK a spin with some of the new Boundless Hate cards. Turns out, indirect damage is not so great when I have 10 or so units to divvy it up on. He used orks handy ability to rush to secure 2 quick planets early game, I had a swing on the third planet using Summary Execution, Troop Transport, Preemptive Barrage, Suppressive Fire, and Staging Grounds in a Tallarn Raiders to bloody Nazdreg and wipe his expensive forces. From then on he was card choked and couldn't contest my huge army. Win on planet 5 with planets, Nazdreg bloodied.
Chris and me have a friendly rivalry as every competitive event we go to seems to place us in a match somewhere in the high tables. He is usually the advent Ragnar player in our meta but him going 2-0 means that he clearly wasn't green to Eldorath's playstyle. I was already very confident in this match-up, as Eldorath doesn't do well against lots of cheap or weak units. The planet flopped 4/5 green and I had a great opening hand. Eldorath was bloodied on his initiative turn 2 and the game was quickly over on turn 3 to the friendly jests of "Man, Worr is so broken." Win on planets in 3 turns, Eldorath bloodied.
If I recall correctly the final standings were:
Worr - Travis (3-0)
Eldorath - Chris (2-1)
Ragnar - Wyatt (2-1)
Eldorath - Alex (2-1)
Nazdreg - Josh (1-2)
Nazdreg - Kevin (1-2)
Cato - Eric (1-2)
Nazdreg - Sean (0-3)
We had lots of Nazdreg show up which was odd because only Josh is known for running the green cards, but I suppose lots of people wanted to try the new cards out.
Saving the Store Championship list here for future reference, as I will be making changes to it based on my recent testing with the list. Hope you guys have tried and enjoyed the deck so far as much as I have.
After lots of testing (now up to around 20 games with the deck outside of tournaments), I've gone to 3 Augurs and also slotted in 3 Inquisitorial Fortress to help maximize combat tempo if the game goes late, while giving some strong early game presence even while away from the first planet, and also giving more answers to Chaos shenanigans (Gateways and Plaguebeasts be damned). Happy Conquesting, comrades! Never retreat, never surrender, and die well in the name of the Emperor!

Inspired by you, I've thrown something together too:

Without discounter cards, a Depot deck has to be seriously low cost. A few spike costs don't freeze it up, but a glut of 2 costs can do.
Take a look, tell me what you think.

So did this game win a store Championship as the title says?
Yes. This current version is the deck I piloted to win the Store Championship at Springfield.
Thank you for your inside and for sharing the deck!

I think 3 Augurs and 3 Fortresses is a really good go to.
This deck seems to have a terrifyingly low amount of shields. How do you play around that?
